Dehydrated jalapeño chillies are super versatile 🌶️ Here are some easy and tasty ways to use them:
1. Rehydrate & Cook
Soak in hot water for 10–15 minutes, then:
- Chop into salsas, guacamole, or pico de gallo
- Add to stir-fries, curries, or fajitas
- Blend into soups or sauces
2. Make Jalapeño Powder
Grind dried jalapeños in a spice grinder to make:
- Jalapeño chilli powder for tacos, eggs, popcorn, or roasted veg
- A milder alternative to cayenne with great flavour
3. Infuse Oils or Vinegar
- Add to olive oil for drizzling on pizza, pasta, or salads
- Steep in vinegar for spicy dressings or pickling
4. Spice Rubs & Seasonings
Crush and mix with:
- Sea salt (jalapeño salt 🌶️🧂)
- Garlic powder, cumin, paprika for BBQ rubs
- Sprinkle on chicken, fish, or roasted potatoes
5. Sauces & Condiments
- Blend rehydrated chillies with garlic, lime, and oil for a jalapeño paste
- Add to mayonnaise, aioli, or yoghurt sauces
6. Baking & Snacks
- Add crushed jalapeño to cornbread or cheese scones
- Sprinkle on roasted nuts or popcorn
Heat Tip
Dehydrated jalapeños are often hotter than fresh, so start small and build up.
